Elpida

Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG

Product Description:

Elpida (Emamectin) belongs to naturally occurring Avermectin group of insecticide and is good for controlling chewing pests such as bollworms in cotton and fruit and shoot borers in okra.

Mode of Action:

  1. Chloride channel activator.
  2. Acts on nerve cells to suppress muscle contraction, causing a continuous flow of Chlorine ions in the GABA and H-Glutamate receptor sites.
  3. The insect is paralyzed and stops feeding.
Crops Target Pest/Disease Dose per Acre (gm/ml)
Grapes Thrips 44-88
Redgram Pod Borer 88
Cotton Bollworms 88
Cabbage DBM 80
Chickpea Pod Borer 88
Brinjal Fruit and Shoot Borer 80
Okra Fruit and Shoot Borer 68
Chilli Fruit borer, thrips and mites 80

Benefits:

  1. It acts on the nerve cells within hours to suppress muscle contraction thus inhibiting the larvae from feeding, providing rapid crop protection.
  2. It controls larvae of a whole range of insects primarily by ingestion but also affects contact activity. Its activity is fast as it kills the larvae while it's still inside the egg, increasing residual activity.
  3. It lacks intrinsic toxicity and a mode of action is mainly via ingestion rather than contact activity, hence it's considered biologically selective for some beneficial species
  4. Ecologically selective to a wide range of beneficial species due to the rapid breakdown of the active ingredient thus limiting contact activity to a very short period.
  5. It has a unique physiological mode of action, reducing the possibility of cross-resistance to other chemicals.
  6. Stops Lepidopterans feeding within hours of ingestion, preventing subsequent crop damage.
  7. It is currently the most potent active ingredient available against key lepidopteran pests, providing the highest efficacy at the lowest rates.
